(BEDFORD) - The fifth annual Blooms a Busting Lawn and Garden Show is Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lawrence County 4-H Fairgrounds. With more than 30 exhibitors from across Indiana and Kentucky, the show covers gardening and outdoor living.

Guest speakers for the show include:

• Mark Bennett, an Indiana DNR Fish and Wildlife biologist for 33 years, has taught at Indiana University for 22 years including a GSMNP class on plants and plant communities;

• Roy Ballard, Hancock County Extension Educator for Agriculture and Natural Resources, is the Indiana coordinator for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education.

• Joe Kimmel has a history of beekeeping dating back 45 years and is a charter member of the Bedford Beekeepers. He will provide education on the benefits and practices of beekeeping; and

• Alex Wardwell, project director for Southern Indiana Cooperative Invasives Management, has worked as a field biologist since graduating college and enjoys teaching about invasive plants and planting native species.

"While the show has educational aspects, there are also a variety of gardening and outdoor living products and services for the public to see," said Bill Schmeltzer, president of Land of Limestone Master Gardeners Inc "It is a growing show and constantly being improved by the dedicated Purdue Master Gardeners hosting it."
More than 800 plants will be offered for sale this year.

There are many new features and exhibitors at this year's show and the Star Station will be covering the show for future broadcast. There will be door prizes, food service by Holt's Catering, free parking and free admission.

Located in the heated main Expo Hall of the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, look for the Purdue Master Gardener gardening information booth with print-on-demand information sheets and experts there to answer gardening questions.

Door prizes will be given throughout the day. Each person attending will be given two door prize tickets at the reception area and the opportunity to enter their tickets directly for a door prize they like, Schmeltzer added.
The first 50 visitors will receive a free plant.
