Bedford Woman Arrested After Disruption At Hospital

Last updated on Monday, March 24, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested after she became upset because hospital staff would not admit her to the hospital.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to the emergency room at IU Health Bedford Hospital after the staff had treated 31-year-old Kristen Luttrell in the emergency room and she was refusing to leave.

When officers arrived at 6:03 p.m. Saturday they found Luttrell sitting in a wheelchair yelling at staff and visitors. Luttrell told police she was mentally unstable and needed to be admitted.

Staff told police Luttrell was fine and needed to leave.

Officers escorted Luttrell from the hospital and attempted to contact family members to come get her.

"They called several and they refused to come and get her," Parsley says. "That is when Luttrell began screaming and cursing. After numerous times of asking her to stop, she was arrested. Officers also learned that Ms. Luttrell had attempted to be admitted to IU Bloomington Hospital a few days ago and at IU Health Hospital and St. Vincent Dunn Hospital on Friday."
