Salem High School Announces Academic Hall Of Fame Honorees

(SALEM) - The Salem Education Foundation and the Salem Community Schools are pleased to announce the members of the 2014 Lion Legacy Class, Salem High School’s Academic Hall of Fame.

The Lion Legacy Program recognizes graduates of Salem High School who have achieved success in their chosen fields and who will serve as role models for future Salem High School graduates.

This year's honorees are:

Class of 1953: Dr. Donald Zacharias, 15th President emeritus of Mississippi State University

Class of 1954: Dr. Olson Huff: Pediatrician, Chairman Board of Directors, North Carolina Partnership for Children

Class of 1965: Yvonne Perlberg Vice President and General Auditor Amgen, Inc.

Class of 1971: Danny Dean President of Indianapolis Public Library Foundation

Class of 1981 Dr. Carrie Wulfman, Allergist & Immunologist at Neshobe Family Practice

Class of 1996: Brian Barnett Former Director of Engineering Support Army's Unmanned Aircraft Project

These outstanding graduates will return to Salem High School on Friday, April 4, to address the student body and visit in classrooms.

They will each be invited to tell about their chosen fields and how Salem High School was a foundation for their success.

That evening, the public is invited to a banquet to honor these individuals. An art display from the award winning Salem High School arts department will be featured.

The banquet will be at the Salem High School presentation room at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at Mid-Southern Savings Bank, Loy and Fordyce Insurance and Salem Apothecary.
