Last updated on Friday, February 7, 2014

(COALMOUNT) - Two juveniles have been arrested for starting the fire that caused major damage at the old Coalmount School and Gym earlier this week.

Pete Wilson of the Brazil Times reports that one of the two juveniles suspected of starting the fire admitted the two were in the school the day the fire started lighting fires.

The juveniles told detectives they were "bored" and that was why they were lighting the fires.

Authorities arrested the two teens Thursday afternoon; one a 16-year-old male from Jasonville, the other is a 17-year-old male from Coalmont. Both are students at Shakamak High School in Jasonville. The teens are facing felony charges of arson and burglary.

The fire was first reported around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday at the abandoned school on Ind. 159. When crews arrived, they found fire shooting through the roof of the school.

Later that day, police received a tip about the identity of those who may have started the fire.
