(BLOOMFIELD) - Greene County deputies arrested a Springville man after he and another man allegedly broke into a home and stole several guns and a lock box containing cash on January 30.
32-year-old Michael Ray was arrested Friday. Police are still looking for 25-year-old Sam Bates, of Bloomfield, who they believe was also involved in the burglary.
Ray is facing felony charges of burglary and theft.
The Greene County Daily World reports that Ray and Bates are accused of breaking into a home on State Road 54 east of Bloomfield on January 30. Police believe one of the men entered the home through a dog door on the side of a garage attached to the home.
Police say the men stole four guns, including a Glock model 23, a Phoenix 22LR model HP22A, a Winchester 30-30 lever gun and a Remington 22LR semi-automatic rifle. The guns were taken from a gun safe inside the garage.
The paperwork for the guns, which was in a lock box, was also missing, along with a debit card, wallet and a large amount of cash.
No information has been released as to whether police have been able to recover the stolen items.
Bates, who is on probation, was to report to his probation officer in Monroe County the day of the burglary, but failed to show up and has not been located.
Anyone who has information about the burglary or the whereabouts of Samuel Bates should contact the Greene County Sheriff's Department at 812-384-4411.
