Possible Stolen Truck Set On Fire Monday Morning

Last updated on Monday, February 3, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Firefighters from Marshall Volunteer Fire Department were called to the 3800 block of Peerless Road after a report of a truck on fire early this morning.

According to Marshall VFD Chief Chad Hayes the truck was sitting in a field.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 5:50 a.m.

"It was a 2004 Dodge Ram," Hayes says. "The fire had died down and but the truck was still smoldering and there was a little bit of fire when firefighters arrived."

Firefighters extinguished the fire, but the truck was destroyed.

"We believe this was the same truck that was reported stolen from Sasser Addition at 3:32 a.m.," Hayes says. "The vehicle matches the description of the stolen truck, but because of the extensive damage to the vehicle the numbers on the truck could not be verified. Lawrence County detectives are investigating."
