(KOKOMO) - Minal Patel, Lawrence County’s Distinguished Young Woman, was awarded $2,500 for as second runner-up in the statewide competition held in Kokomo.
Patel choreographed a Bollywood dance routine for her performance.
The scholarship program for high school seniors judges the young women in categories of fitness, self-expression, creative and performing arts, a judges' interview and scholastics.
Patel, a Mitchell High School senior, plans to study medicine to become a pediatrician.
