(BEDFORD) - A new gas station and convenience store will be built on the southeast corner of 16th Street and Plaza Drive.

The Board of Works granted a curb cut off Plaza Drive, across the street from the car wash and McDonalds, for the new business. Another entrance will be located on 16th Street.

Bill Riggert, an engineer representing Ricker Oil, sought the second entry off Plaza Drive South in order to get tanker trucks onto the property.

The Vision Group, which owns the East Gate Business and Technology Center in the former Visteon plant, plans to split lot on the southeast corner of 16th Street and Plaza Drive.

Ricker Oil Co., which is based in Anderson, plans to acquire the northern part of that property and build a 4,000-square-foot convenience store there.

Travis Ricker last month said the business could employ as many as 25 people.
