(BLOOMINGTON) - Two Ohio men received a powerful electrical jolt Monday while working on high-voltage power lines for Duke Energy.
According to Perry-Clear Creek Fire Department Chief Dustin Dillard, rescues workers were called just before noon to a report of a possible explosion in the 7100 block of South Old Ind. 37.
Dillard says the two men were in the bucket of a cherry picker working near a 34,000-volt power line in the woods behind the Prairie Material concrete plant when they either came into contact with the power lines or the transformer.
When first responders arrived, a co-worker had lowered the men from the truck and transported them out of the woods to Ind. 37.
Dillard says both men were alert when first responders arrived.
Both men suffered electrical burns during the incident. One man was taken to IU-Bloomington Hospital and the other was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
