(BLOOMFIELD) - A Bloomfield man was arrested after police searched his home last week after he sent inappropriate notes to a girl.
36-year-old Robert James Coleman is scheduled to appear in court this morning to face a felony charge of child solicitation.
Police armed with a search warrant went to Coleman's home East Coen Road Wednesday. There police four computers, two printers and a cell phone used to send the 13-year-old girl notes and text messages.
Police began investigating after the father of the girl contacted the Greene County Sheriffs Department reporting his daughter had received an inappropriate note from Coleman.
Investigators spoke to the teen and her mother - they handed over the note, plus $20 that Coleman allegedly included with the note. A previous note was also given to investigators and the child said she had received several of these notes over the course of the last few months. The mother described the notes as "creepy" and the girl told police she was "creeped out" by Coleman and the notes, and other actions, and he made her feel like he wanted to molest her.
During an interview, Coleman admitted to police he had sent the notes and hoped to groom the teen into having a consensual sexual relationship with him. He also allegedly told police he understood his behavior was illegal and he had been afraid it would be reported to police.
