Linton School Searched For Bomb Monday

(LINTON) - Linton-Stockton Schools was declared safe after the Linton Police Department and the Crane Emergency Response Team conducted a bomb search Monday afternoon.

Police and emergency response personnel were called to the high school after school officials received information about a possible bomb threat had received information about a possible bomb threat.

Students and staff were moved to the high school gymnasium.

Linton Police Chief Troy Jerrell contacted the Crane Emergency Response Team who sent a canine unit along with support personnel to conduct a sweep of the interior and exterior of the High School and Middle School.

No bomb was found and students were allowed to return to classrooms at 4:15 p.m. to retrieve homework or to obtain necessary items from their lockers.

Teams were on site for about two hours.

Jerrell stressed that the incident is still being investigated and urged anyone with any information to come forward.

Jerrell says this crime isnot something officers take lightly. And a reward is being offered for information.
