IU Ends Summer Discount For Bloomington Campus

Last updated on Thursday, February 6, 2014

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University will stop offering a 25 percent discount on summer tuition at its Bloomington campus while continuing the discount at the six regional campuses it operates.

IU officials say the discount program that started in 2012 didn't keep many students on the Bloomington campus, where summer semester enrollment has seen little change. The university says the regional campuses have seen summer enrollment increases, such as a 13 percent jump at the Kokomo campus and 9 percent at the Richmond campus.

IU spokesman Mark Land says that many Bloomington students are used to leaving for the summer to take jobs or internships. Land says more students at the regional campuses live in those areas and the discount was an incentive to take summer classes.
