Hunter Finds Items Used For Making Meth

Last updated on Tuesday, February 4, 2014

(MITCHELL) - Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig is warning residents out walking or hunting to use caution when finding suspicious bags or other items.

On Friday, a rabbit hunter in the area of Rabbitsville and Woodville Road found a bag containing several precursors used to make meth.

The Drug Task Force was called out to dispose of the items. According to Craig, officers also found used coffee filters and two bottles used to make the drug.

No active lab was found. Craig warns residents that these material could be unstable and to not touch the items, but call police immediately.

"These items can be very unstable especially with the fluctuating weather conditions," Craig added. "We don't want anyone injured. With Spring coming, we will have more and more of these incidents - especially in the woods, remote areas and along ditches."

Anyone locating suspicious items is asked to call police or if they have information about illegal drug activity to call the police tip line at 277-2020. Tips can be left anonymously.
