Firefighter Responds To Own House Fire

Last updated on Thursday, February 27, 2014

(BEDFORD) - Three volunteer fire departments were called to a home of one of their own Wednesday morning.

No one was hurt in the fire at 353 Trinton Circle. The home is owned by Shawswick VFD firefighter Terry Pemberton.

A neighbor reported the fire.

According to Shawswick VFD Chief Bob Brown, the fire started in a hallway area.

"There was damage to the ceiling, hallway and one bedroom," Brown added. "We are looking at about $10,000 to $20,000 [in damage]."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

"We believe it is electrical in nature, but we are having the state fire marshal coming to investigate," Brown added.

The family was not living in the home, but had just had the home remodeled.

Firefighters were called back to the scene just before 4 p.m.

"It wasn't really a rekindle," Brown added. "When we arrived on the scene we found the insulation smoldering."

Shawswick Township Volunteer Fire Department is handling the case. Assisting at the scene were Guthrie Township, Marion Township VFDs, Seals ambulance crew and Tabernacle or Praise and Emergency Services.
