(BLOOMFIELD) - Randal Crosley, of Jasonville, appeared in Greene County Superior Court Tuesday afternoon to change his not guilty plea to guilty in the murder of 19-year-old Katelyn Wolfe. Wolfe, of Linton, was murdered in June of 2013.
The Greene County Daily World reports that Greene County Chief Public Defender Alan Baughman was appointed to represent Crosley and told Judge Dean Martin that Crosley wanted to withdraw his plea of not guilty on all five counts he has been charged with:
* Count 1 - Murder
* Count 2 - Conspiracy to commit murder
* Count 3 - Conspiracy to commit rape.
* Count 4 - Criminal confinement.
* Count 5 - Dealing in a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Tamera D. Crosley, wife of accused murderer Randal Crosley, was taken into custody in January after warrants for were issued for her arrest in two separate cases. She is accused of not telling the truth and attempting to mislead officers investigating the death of Wolfe last June. In another case, she is accused of an attempted plot to steal items and return them to get cash to put in Randal Crosley's account at the jail.
Under the terms of the negotiated plea agreement signed by Randal Crosley, his attorney and Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw, sentencing will be left to the discretion of Greene Superior Court, however, counts 1, 2, 4 and 5 will be served concurrently (at the same time) and it will be left to the discretion of the court whether Count 3 will be served concurrently or consecutively to the other counts.
The other man accused of Wolfe's murder, 26-year-old Jordan Buskirk of Jasonville, has already entered a guilty plea to felony murder, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit rape and criminal confinement, but he has not yet been sentenced. He agreed to testify against Crosley at his trial.
Crosley admitted he had discussions in May and June of 2013 with Jordan Buskirk about killing someone and committing rape. The two then went to Terre Haute to purchase items to commit the crimes.
He also admitted to restraining Wolfe and giving her a large amount of Valium.
He also admitted the he and Buskirk had taken a large amount of drugs, Spice and then contacting Wolfe and drove her to another county to commit the crimes.
Crosley says the tow then took Wolfe to a remote area, put her in a headlock and place a shirt over her head, duct taped her mouth and bound her hands. Buskirk then strangled Wolfe, killing her, but Crosley told the judge he shared the responsibility for her death.
Buskirk said the two men tied Wolfe up with a rope and attached the 20-pound weight to her body before dragging her down a hill and throwing her in a rural Sullivan County lake.
Judge Martin will now take the plea under advisement. If Judge Martin accepts the plea Crosley will be sentenced at 9 a.m. on March 4.
