Bedford Man Arrested After Eventful Evening

Last updated on Friday, February 21, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after two separate incidents Wednesday night.

At 8:03 p.m. Lawrence County police were called to a home in the 6300 block of Sand Pit Road. There police found 35-year-old Matthew Cook-Prichard. It was determined that Cook-Prichard would be taken to the Bloomington Hospital for a mental evaluation.

While Prichard was in the ambulance, he attempted to jump from the vehicle. Ambulance personnel were able to restrain Pritchard and decided to take him to IU Health Bedford Hospital for treatment.

While in the emergency room, Prichard decided to walk out of the hospital. A short time later, an employee found him in the parking lot inside a hospital employee's vehicle.

The hospital staff then called police and a Lawrence County officer located Prichard with items that he had taken from the vehicle.

Prichard was arrested and charged with unauthorized entry to a vehicle and theft.
