(BEDFORD) - Five students brought home top prizes in the annual poster contest sponsored by the Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District.
The contest was for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
This year's theme was "Dig Deeper -- Mysteries in the Soil."
Participating students were given the opportunity to express their knowledge and interest about the importance of soil and how we must have soil to survive.
This year 475 posters were submitted from the Bedford and Mitchell areas, with 24 classrooms representing 11 schools. Students in five divisions participated this year.
The winner of each division will be recognized at the Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District's annual meeting Feb. 10 at Spring Mill State Park. In addition, the posters will advance to the state competition.
