U.S. Rep. Todd Young To Seek Third Term

Last updated on Friday, January 3, 2014

(UNDATED) - U.S. Rep. Todd Young will run for a third term representing the 9th Congressional District of Indiana.

Young's spokesman Trevor Foughty confirmed Monday that the 40-year-old Republican representative will run in 2014, seeking a return to Washington, D.C., in 2015.

The district encompasses Brown, Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Johnson, Monroe, Orange, Spencer and Washington counties and parts of Morgan, Crawford and Scott counties.

Young was re-elected to a second term in 2012, defeating Democrat Shelli Yoder.

An opponent for Young in the 2014 election has already stepped forward. Democrat Bill Bailey announced his candidacy in October for the state's 9th Congressional District. Bailey is a former mayor of Seymour and former member of the Indiana House of Representatives from the 66th district.

Young serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and sponsored five bills in the 113th Congress.
