(FRENCH LICK) - The Springs Valley Athletic Department in conjunction with the Springs Valley Education Foundation will honor Springs Valley's 1964 Regional Champion boys basketball team Saturday.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of their remarkable run to the Sweet Sixteen of the IHSAA single-class basketball tournament.

The '64 squad was coached by current Springs Valley's coach, Jim Jones. The Blackhawks finished the regular season 6-14 record and then went on to win their next six games to advance o the Evansville Semi-State.

Other than the 1958 State Finalist team, they are the only Springs Valley basketball team to capture a Regional Championship.

The team will be introduced at halftime of the boys varsity game with Tell City. Members of the team are coming in from across the country to reminisce and celebrate their magical run of 50 years ago.
