Southern Indiana Sports, Recreation and Youth Center Needs Volunteers

Last updated on Thursday, January 30, 2014

(MITCHELL) - Southern Indiana Sports, Recreation and Youth Center is looking for volunteers.

Chris Blackmore, who now serves as the board president, says the group has filed for its not-for-profit status.

Blackmore says that once they receive the status that the plan is to secure a building and apply for grants to create a recreation center that will provide a positive atmosphere for youth.

But while Blackmore is waiting on the Internal Revenue Service to complete the non-profit designation, he is looking for volunteers to serve a one-year-term on the resource development committee.

The group will be responsible for fundraising activities, seeking donations, partnerships and advertising.

Hall Services LLC and the Mitchell VFW have donated toward the cause.

The next meeting will be held March 20 at 6 p.m. at the Mitchell Community Building.

Those who want to donate money can do that at Hoosier Hills Credit Union under the SISRYC account or mail their donation to SISRYC, 2707 S. Meridian Road, Mitchell, IN 47446.

To help with the youth or volunteer send an email to SISRYC@hotmail.com for more information.

Updates on the project can be found at Twitter: @SISRYC1; Facebook: Southern Indiana Sports, Recreation and Youth Center or online at www.SISRYC.org.
