(EAST OOLITIC) - The Lawrence County Police Department is conducting an investigation into the death of a baby.
Emergency crews were called to a home in the 300 block of Farmer Street at 8:21 a.m. Thursday after a report of a child not breathing.
First Responders from Oolitic and Shawswick Volunteer Fire Departments along with an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew rushed to the home.
"The baby was transported to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead," according to Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig. "The investigation is standard in situations like this,"
Craig says foul play is not suspected.
"But we will know after the results of an autopsy," Craig says.
