(OOLITIC) - At 5 p.m. Wednesday, the future of the Oolitic post office will be the topic of a meeting at the Oolitic Town Hall.

Town Council President Delvin Nirkirk is asking all Oolitic residents to attend and voice their opinion.

Town residents received letters and a survey from the United State Postal Service in preparation of the meeting.

One proposal is to reduce the facility's hours in order to keep the small post office open.

Mary Dando, communications specialist for the USPS Greater Indiana Region, says the Oolitic Post Office will not close but might reduce hours to being open a few hours a day.

Dando says the cut in hours will ensure the post office will stay open and will be more cost efficient.

Customers will still have access to the retail lobby and post office boxes.

The Huron post office's hours were unchanged, but the office in Williams is now open four hours a day.
