National Weather Service Issues Wind Chill Advisory Until Thursday

Last updated on Wednesday, January 22, 2014

(UNDATED) - The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory until Thursday, for Sullivan, Greene, Monroe, Brown, Bartholomew, Decatour, Knox, Daviess, Martin, Lawrence, Jackson and Jennings counties.

A reinforcing shot of Arctic will move into Central Indiana tonight and Thursday. Gusty winds will accompany the Arctic air. These will combine to produce dangerous wind chills tonight into Friday for much of the area.

Wind chill values of -15 to -20 degrees with northwest winds of 10 to 20 miles per hour will continue into Friday. Higher wind gust will make it feel briefly even colder.

Wind chills will remain at -15 or colder for most of the time after midnight tonight into early Thursday afternoon.

Frostbite and hypothermia can occur with prolonged exposure to the bitter cold if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors make sure wear a hat and gloves.
