Jackson Superior Court I Closed Because Of Busted Sprinkler Line

Last updated on Monday, January 13, 2014

(SEYMOUR) - A broken water line Thursday afternoon forced officials to close Jackson Superior Court I until further notice

Officials say if you have business to conduct with the court in the coming days, you will not be penalized for failing to appear or to meet your deadlines while the court is closed.

According to Seymour Fire Chief Brad Lucas a fire sprinkler line broke at the Jackson Superior Court Building on Corporate Way, gushing thousands of gallons into the structure on Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters turned off a sprinkler riser, stopping the flow of water, but not before about three-quarters of an inch of water covered the north half of the building, including the chambers of Jackson Superior Court Judge Bruce Markel and the courtroom.

Lucas says the line had been frozen because of the recent frigid temperatures.
