(UNDATED) - Indiana Conservation Officer (ICO) Dennis Talley has been selected as ICO Operational District Eight Officer of the Year.

The Indiana Conservation Officers of Operational District Eight proudly announce Master ICO Dennis Talley as the District Eight Officer of the Year

Officer Talley received the award by a nomination of his peers. Operational District Eight serves the south central portion of Indiana, and consists of Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Lawrence, Orange, Perry, Scott and Washington Counties.

This is the second time Officer Talley has been awarded District Officer honors. He has been serving the citizens of Indiana since 1998 and is currently assigned in Crawford County. Officer Talley is now eligible to receive the ultimate award which can be bestowed upon a Conservation Officer by the Law Enforcement Division; the Pitzer Officer of the Year Award. The award is named after Indiana Conservation Officer James D. Pitzer, who was shot and killed in the line of duty.

Officer Talley was active in countless community activities in 2013 which directly reflect an Indiana Conservation Officer's devotion to education, community service, and enforcement. He also serves as a NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) Instructor and background investigator for the Department. Officer Talley's experience and approachability make him an invaluable asset to both the State of Indiana as well as the citizens of Crawford County.

Local Prosecutor Cheryl Hillenburg said this of Officer Talley, "Dennis epitomizes what an officer should be. He is committed to the county in which he was born and raised. He returned to Crawford County to work and live with his family."

The rest of the Indiana Conservation Officers of District Eight congratulate him and know that he is very deserving of this award.
