Last updated on Monday, January 13, 2014

(UNDATED) - Hoosier Uplands will once again offer one scholarship to a graduating high school senior from each high school in the five counties they serve - Crawford, Lawrence, Martin, Orange and Washington.

The $1,300 scholarship will be awarded to a student from each school who wants to pursue a career in the social services, health, or educational field and who exhibits a financial need.

The selection will be made by each school's scholarship committee and or school foundation. Seniors should inquire about the application process trough their high school counselor or community school foundation, not Hoosier Uplands. All applications must be returned to the high school counselor or foundation by the deadline give to each high school.

According to Hoosier Uplands Chief Executive Officer David Miller, the scholarships were initiated in 1993 by the Hoosier Upland Board of Directors to promote post-secondary education in the social services, health and education fields. This will be the 22nd year for the scholarships.

As of Fall 2013, Hoosier Uplands has presented 165 students with $211,650 in scholarship funds.
