Flood Warnings In Effect For White River

(UNDATED) - River flood warnings are in effect for the White River.

The flooding a result of heavy rains and melting snow. The National Weather Service says significant flooding as experienced in December is not anticipated. A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers the East Fork White River, Muscatatuck River, Wabash River and the White River. .Lowland flooding continued along portions of rivers in western and southern Indiana.

The river will continue rising to near 14.0 feet by after midnight tonight. The river will fall below flood stage early Thursday morning. At 14.0 feet, pasture and agricultural lands and several county and state roads begin to flood. High water will isolates a few river cabins. State Road 235 east of Medora and county roads near Shields and Vallonia will flood. Roads that begin to flood include Ind. 258 east of Cortland, County Road 725 North and Ewing Road near Brownstown.

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river conditions.
