(COPPER VALLEY) - Firefighters from Rural District II, Huron and Marion Township Volunteer Fire Departments battled a house fire in Copperhill Valley Tuesday afternoon.

According to Rural District II Chief Bill Sallee, the Lawrence County Police Department received a call at 3:35 p.m. reporting a possible fire because of a large amount of black smoke in the area of Georgia Road.

Firefighters from Huron and Marion VFD responded to the area. The fire was located on County Road 725 West in Orange County and that is when Rural District II VFD was notified.

Sallee says when firefighters located the blaze the home was engulfed in flames.

"There was not much we could do but contain the fire," Sallee says. "It was pretty well gone when we arrived."

Sallee, says the home is owned by Craig Bail and Brook Cravens, the owners were out of state when the fire started
