Boil Advisory For East Washington Continues

Last updated on Wednesday, January 15, 2014

(SALEM) - The East Washington Water Corporation has continued the boil water advisory for customers served by the Canton system.

According to Superintendent Nathan Risen, there was a draw on the system which emptied the tank which prompted the advisory. West Washington customers are also being asked to conserve water while the tanks fill back up.

Risen says the advisory could extend through the rest of the week.

East Washington purchases its water from Salem.

Both Risen and Russell Brown, water superintendent for Salem, says the draw occurred after the recent cold snap and believe it is the result of people running water to keep lines from freezing.

Crews found no evidence of a major water leak.

East Washington has about 3,400 customers.
