Bedford Man Arrested After Breaking Into Vehicles And Running From Police

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested Sunday morning after officers tracked him to a home in the 1700 block of 13th Street.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officers were called to the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue after a vehicle owner noticed his vehicle door open and a change wallet containing $20 in quarters missing from the vehicle.

When officers arrived they were able to track the suspect to a home on 13th Street. Along the way they also noticed another vehicle had been broken into. Once at the home on 13th Street, the owner would not cooperate with officer.

"As officers were leaving they noticed 21-year-old Arnold Jones leave the front of the home and noticed his footprints in the snow matched those they had been tracking," Parsley says. "When officers asked him to stop, Jones took off running."

Officers were able to subdue Jones after a brief struggle and as they were lifting him from the grown they noticed a black change wallet containing the quarters in the snow.

Jones was taken to the police department where the owner of the identified the wallet as his and Jones was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful entry to a motor vehicle, resisting arrest by force and fleeing.
