(BEDFORD) - Three people were arrested Thursday morning after police found a meth lab in a backpack under a bed at the Budget Inn.

35-year-old Christina D. Atkins who is homeless, is facing charges of dealing meth, possession of meth, three counts of maintaining a common nuisance and two charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley says officers were called to the motel after a report of a domestic fight in one of the rooms.

When police knocked no one would answer, but police could see people through the window.

They also smelled a strong chemical odor and saw syringes and drug paraphernalia in the room.

When police entered the room, Pridemore told police that the drugs were his and not to arrest the women.

When police asked what he meant, Parlsey says Pridemore told police there was an active meth lab in a backpack hid under the bed.

Drug officers and Indiana State Police were called to the motel to dispose of the lab and to secure evidence.
