Last updated on Tuesday, January 14, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Two people are in the hospital after being shot during a robbery in broad daylight Monday at a northwest Indianapolis apartment complex.

The shooting happened at the Scarborough Lake Apartments in the 6300 block of Wakefield Road.

The family rushed from Bedford this morning after they were notified about the shooting. They asked not to be identified.

According to the victim's family, the man went to answer the door and that is when a black man put a gun to his head and made him cover his face. The man then asked where the resident kept his valuables.

The victim told the man they were in his bedroom and that is when the victim attempted to escape and ran for the door and was shot in the hip. The man then told the victim "you shouldn't have done that" and shot him again in the arm.

The second bullet went through two walls - from one apartment into the other - and lodged in a maintenance man's chin. He is listed in stable condition.

The first victim is listed in stable condition. According to his family, the bullet is still in his hip and he is scheduled for surgery today.

Police are looking for the male suspect.
