(MERON) - The Indiana State Police need the public’s help in solving a murder.
Indiana State Police detectives from the Putnamville Post, with the assistance of the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, continue to investigate the homicide of retired farmer 85-year-old Lowell R. Badger, of 10447 West County Road 350 North, Meron.
Mr. Badger's son found him deceased on the floor of his bedroom at 9:23 a.m. on December 8, 2012.
Electronics and other items were found missing from the residence. Taken during the burglary was a light to medium dark gray safe, measuring 23.5 inches tall, 17 inches in depth, and 17 inches wide. Police say it was in pristine condition and manufactured by John D. Brush and Company. Also taken was a black 46" Sony Bravia LCD television.
A subsequent autopsy revealed Badger died from a gunshot wound. Leads in the case are being investigated on a daily basis, but no arrests have been made.
A $38,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
