Washington's Griffith Elementary School Needs A New Roof

Last updated on Tuesday, December 24, 2013

(WASHINGTON) - The condition of the roof and repairs at Griffith Elementary School in Washington was the subject of a public hearing Thursday.

Washington Schools Superintendent Dr. Dan Roach said an analysis of the roof showed that 75 to 80 percent of the roof of the 50 year old building was in need of immediate repair.

There is also concern that leakage may have also caused unseen damage to the building.

School Administrators are asking the school board for a $1.9 million bond issue to pay for the repairs Roach they would like to advertise bids around the first of the year, and let bids by early Spring, and hopes to start the work when school is out.
