Two Indiana University Faculty Members Nominated For Grammys

Last updated on Tuesday, December 17, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - Two Indiana University faculty members are being nominated for Grammys: One is a jazz musician, and the other has created sounds using music transcriptions from the Middle Ages.

Professor Wayne Wallace was nominated for Best Latin Jazz Album - "Latin Jazz/Jazz Latin."

This is Wallace's sixth nomination.

Sound media historian Patrick Feaster has been nominated in the best historical album category for his CD and book, "Pictures of Sound: One Thousand Years of Educed Audio: 980 to 1980."

Feaster took a wide range of written records -- from medieval sheet music to Shakespearean scripts -- and used a computer program to turn them into audio recordings.

The pair will find out if they have won when the Grammys air on January 26, 2014.
