Theft Of Purse, Crash And Power Outage All Linked

(WASHINGTON) - A report of a stolen purse, an injury accident and a four-hour power outage were all linked together Wednesday night.

According to Washington Police, officers received a call just after 11 p.m. to go to the Perdue parking lot on Cosby Road because a man has just taken a woman's purse. According to the woman, Justin Clark had taken her purse from her car and fled the area.

While officers were on the scene of that call, Daviess County deputies were call to an accident with injuries on County Road 200 West.

When deputies arrived they was a vehicle overturned and against a tree and utility pole. The power lines in the area were on the ground.

The driver of the vehicle was Justin Clark, but he had fled the scene on foot.

In the vehicle, police found the purse.

Due to damage to the utility pole, crews had to set a new pole and repair the lines.

Power was out in the area for about four hours.

The accident and theft are still under investigation.
