5th Annual Orleans Christmas On The Square Is Saturday

(ORLEANS) - The 5th Annual Orleans Christmas on the Square is Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Orleans Chamber of Commerce and Town of Orleans.

From 5 to 7 p.m. a Soup Supper and Cookie Walk will be held at Orleans United Methodist Church. There will also be a special "Santa's Workshop" set up in the church basement for youngsters to be able shop for their family members. All items $1 or less.

The Children's Christmas Funtime Express train ride will provide free rides around the decorated historic Congress Square. Live holiday entertainment is planned throughout the evening including special performances from the OHS Band and Choir, Kirby Stailey, Kate Henderson, and Carl Anderson.

A Nativity with live animals telling the traditional Christmas Story will be on display and is sponsored by the Orleans Ministerial Association.

There will be free horse and wagon rides, weathering permitting. Rides will leave from Chamber Welcome Center.

Santa Claus arrives via firetruck at around 6 p.m. at the bandstand. There will be free Santa pictures available from the Kiwais Club of Orleans.

Tri Kappa will offer food, hot chocolate, cookies and cups of soup for donations to be used for the Orange County Clothe a Child.

Harrison Judah will be perform holiday tunes at the Tri Kappa booth. Hoosier Bulldogs,and Busy Bzs Kettle Corn will be provided warm food items as well.

Free "Postcards to Santa" will be available from the Chamber Welcome Center, located on the north side of the square. Santa's Mailbox is in front of Chamber office.

Vendors will also be set up selling items that will make great Christmas presents.
