Spring Mill State Park Closed For Deer Hunt

Last updated on Tuesday, December 3, 2013

(MITCHELL) - Spring Mill State Park and Cave River Valley nature Preserve are closed to the public again today for their second annual controlled deer hunt this year.

Every year, the Department of Natural Resources stages hunts at several state parks in an effort to control the white tail deer population and its damaging effect on the ecosystems of the state parks.

In the first hunt of 2013, hunters took 37 of the animals from the two state-owned properties.

The parks will reopen this evening after the hunt is complete.
