Patoka 26th Annual Eagle Watch January 4

(PATOKA) - A long-popular winter event will return to the Patoka Lake Visitor Center next month.

The 26th annual Eagle Watch is scheduled for January 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants are invited to "experience the world of eagles in Indiana" with indoor and outdoor programs . A resident bald eagle and other live raptors will be featured.

Leslie Grow, an interpretive naturalist at Hardy Lake in Scott County, will be a guest presenter. Participants will join Todd Eubank, Patoka Lake wildlife specialist, in traveling by car caravan to hot spots for eagle viewing.

Rex Watters, wildlife specialist at Monroe Reservoir, will discuss his experiences during the Eagle Reintroduction Program that began in the 1980s.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided, but those attending also are welcome to take along a sack lunch. Those attending also are encouraged to take binoculars, spotting scopes and cameras.

Pre-registration is required and a $5 per person program fee applies. Participants 5 years old or younger attend at no charge. To register, call the visitor center at (812) 685-2447.
