(MITCHELL) - A 19-year-old Orleans woman had to be extricated from the vehicle she was driving after a two-car accident Wednesday in Mitchell that injured three people.
Sadie Hall was trapped in the 2006 Chevrolet and had to be cut from the vehicle by the Bedford Fire Department extrication crew.
Hall suffered a possible broken arm.
Her passenger, 73-year-old Ruth Burlington, of Orleans, suffered a head injury. Both were taken by ambulance to Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the second vehicle, 70-year-old Linda Knight, of Mitchell, complained of chest pain and was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Attempts were made to bring several different medical helicopters to the scene, but because of the dense fog in the area, none of the teams were able to fly to Mitchell.
The accident, which was reported at 12:57 p.m. at Ind. 37 and State Road 60 East near McDonald's.
According to a police report, Hall pulled out from State Road 60 onto Ind. 37, attempting to make a left turn when she pulled the car into the vehicle into the path of Knight's 2005 Ford, which was traveling north on State Road 37.
After the collision, Hall's Chevrolet slid across Ind. 37 and stopped in a farm field.
Hall was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
The Mitchell Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
