Last updated on Tuesday, December 31, 2013

(HARDINSBURG) - State Police say an Orange County man was one of two persons killed Monday morning in a head-on collision on a Washington County Road.

64-year-old Terry P. Collins, of Orleans, and 26-year-old Tami J. Durbin, of Hardinsburg, died in the accident, which occurred at 9:14 a.m. on Hardinsburg-Livonia Road, north of the intersection of West Knight Road.

The drivers were alone in their respective vehicles.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident. The investigation was turned over to the Indiana State Police post in Sellersburg.

An ISP news release reports that Durbin was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt north. As the vehicle topped a hill crest, it traveled across the center line into the southbound lanes, striking Collins' 2014 Jeep Compass head-on...

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and the airbags deployed.
