(GREENE CO.) - Police are looking for a Linton man accused of six counts of forgery and two counts of theft.
According to Greene County Sheriff Lt. Bryan Woodall, Clayton Scott Page allegedly used a girlfriend's mother's debit card to make purchases without her permission and then allegedly wrote six checks on a checking account he was not authorized to use.
A warrant for Page's arrest was issued Nov. 27.
Page is accused of writing the six checks to a convenience store in Linton in October in amounts ranging from $14.29 up to $54.29.
He is also accused of using the woman's debit card two times in October to make two purchases at two gas stations in the amounts of $15.31 and $63.
According to a report by Det. George Dallaire, the account owner said she had given the debit card to her daughter to buy Halloween items for children. The daughter had the card for about four hours and the daughter let Page hold onto the card. The account owner also said she signed one check and gave her checkbook to her daughter to use the check to purchase gas, but she did not give anyone permission to sign her name on any of the rest of the checks.
The amount of the two debit card transactions and the six checks totaled up to $337.84.
Police were able to secure video showing Page making the transactions. They also obtained copies of the checks that show Page's cell phone number and his driver's license number written on the top of the checks.
Police did say that Page's father had paid back around $310 to the account toward the cost of the transactions.
When the warrant was issued, the court specified that when he is taken into custody, Page's bond will be set at $50,000 with ten percent cash allowed.
