(BLOOMFIELD) - Josh Goodman of Linton, who currently serves as a Detective Sergeant for the Linton Police Department, has announced his candidacy for the office of Greene County Sheriff.
The Greene County Daily World reports, Goodman is a lifelong resident of Greene County and currently resides north of Linton with his wife Danielle and their son. Goodman's wife is a teacher at Linton Elementary School.
Goodman began his career in law enforcement shortly after high school. He graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and according to his campaign announcement, has specialized training in the areas of: Homicide, child abuse, burglaries, violent crimes, gun crimes, property crimes, interview and interrogation techniques, cybercrime investigations, drug trafficking, tactical operations, forensic interviewing for crimes against children, and surveillance techniques.
In his announcement, Goodman also cites extensive training and experience: In the field of narcotics investigation and undercover operations; testifying as an expert witness; as a former K-9 handler; and service as an instructor in the areas of narcotics and scenario-based training.
Goodman is an active member of the South Central Narcotics Strike Force, a multi-agency, multi-county drug enforcement initiative; the Fraternal Order of Police - Past President; a founding member of the Greene County Drug Task Force; and he has served as the Task Force Director since its formation, coordinating efforts of multiple local, state, and federal agencies to successfully investigate serious crimes.
Goodman says he looks forward to sharing his vision for the Sheriff's Department with voters in the coming weeks and months. He says he is dedicated to keeping citizens safe in their homes and in the community, will work to establish strong working relationships between the county's law enforcement agencies, and will be in the community listening to concerns and working hard to deliver results.
Goodman intends to seek his party's nomination for Sheriff and said he will file in January to run as a Republican candidate.
"I would like to thank all of those who have encouraged and supported my decision to seek election as Sheriff, as well as those who will do so in the future," said Goodman. "I would be honored to be your Sheriff, and I am asking for your support and your vote."
