(LINTON) - A warrant was issued last week for a 49-year-old Linton woman after she allegedly stole several valuable items from another woman.
The Greene County Daily World reports, Jacqueline "Jackie" Sanders was arrested Wednesday, without incident, at her home. According to Linton Officer Nick Yingling in October he was called to Sanders' home because a woman reported she was being held against her will. Boxes were blocking the door so the woman could not leave.
The officer had the woman move the boxes and she exited the home.
The woman had been living with Sanders. At that time Sanders, who was in the home, began yelling at the woman and told her she couldn't leave. The woman wanted her belongings and Sanders told police the woman's belongings were in the boxes.
Then on November 6, the woman reported she was missing several important items including her birth certificated. Police went to Sander's home and she dropped off the items at the police station the next day.
But when the woman came to get them they were not the originals but copies.
So Yingling went back to talk to Sanders again. Sanders allegedly told police she had made copies and that the other items could still be in the house, but police would need a search warrant to look for them.
That is when police told her she could be charged with theft.
Later that same day, Nov. 8, Sanders delivered three boxes of the first woman's items to the police department.
The first woman picked up the boxes and reported some of her items were still missing including medals received by her late husband during his service in the Vietnam war, a Mac computer and keyboard, a Kodak camera, a juicer machine, an expresso machine, a white gold tanzanite ring with diamonds, a pink 14k gold bracelet with diamonds, a pink 14k gold diamond bracelet, a box of other jewelry and a post office box key.
Yingling again spoke with Sanders, but she again told him he needed a warrant and she was going to contact a lawyer and the conversation was over.
Criminal charges were filed against Sanders Tuesday and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Sanders was arrested Wednesday on a preliminary charge of theft. She was released after posting $400, 10 percent of a $4,000 bond.
