(BEDFORD) - Despite the bad weather, Kari’s Gym was filled Saturday during the LIFE Fantasia Auction.
A record one hundred items were auctioned off raising nearly $18,000. Add sponsorships to that and the total jumped to more than $22,000.
Laura Bailey, LIFE Director of Operations, says it has been a rough year for many families and numbers are up for those visiting the food pantry.
The top-earning tree was a "Duck Dynasty"-inspired creation entered by Bedford Federal Savings Bank. Adorned with shotgun shells, deer antlers and a stars and stripes ribbon, it inspired a brisk bidding war. Gary Evans, of Architectural Stone Sales and longtime supporter of Fantasia, was the winning bidder, buying it for $1,200. Evans bought the tree for his grandkids, who are big Duck Dynasty fans.
Two other Bedford Federal trees fetched big prices. A rustic-themed grapevine tree sold for $1,000 and a 9-foot tree decorated in red, silver and white by the bank sold for $825.
Brett and Heidi Werley purchased a small grapevine tree and two centerpieces for $1,200.
Donnie Hall, LIFE Director of Community Relations, appreciates the people who battled the elements and came to support the organization.
