(MITCHELL) - The Mitchell City Council has appointed Deb Cory of Mitchell to serve on city’s newly established Board of Zoning Appeals.
Established by the state, the zoning board, will hear and decide special exemption to the city's zoning ordinance and authorize variances from the terms of those ordinances. The board will also hear appeals from those who question the decisions.
The Board of Zoning Appeals will consist of five member, three which were appointed by the mayor and another appointed by the plan commission and one appointed by the city council.
Cory was appointed by the City Council.
Mayor Gary Pruett appointed Mark Bryant, who also serves on the plan commission, Alan Wood and Gary Spear.
The city's plan commission will appoint the final member at their meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
The meeting is open to the public.
