Brown County Junior High School "We The People" Take 4th State Title

(NASHVILLE) - The Brown County Junior High School, “We the People” team won its fourth state title.

This is the second team to win the honor under the leadership of teacher Michael Potts. The contest involved using the knowledge of the United State Constitution to take part in a series of mock congressional hearing. Placing second was Saint Richards Episcopal School, in Indianapolis and Helfrich Park Middle School in Evansville placed third.

The team will now travel to the national completion in Fairfax Virginia and Washington D.C.

The Brown County High School team, under the direction of teacher Gerry Long, won a wildcard slot in the competition after scoring well in the regional competition, but came up short for the state title. Fisher High School finished first, followed by Munster High School and Hamilton Southeastern High School.

The contest is hosted by the Indiana State Bar Foundation and involved 100 schools across the state.
The national competition is run by the Center for Civic Education. The contest involved more than 30,000 students nationally.
