Last updated on Monday, December 9, 2013

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested Friday on charges of battery and strangulation.

47-year-old Christopher Turner, of 2009 Tunnelton Road, is facing charges of strangulation, two counts of intimidation with a deadly weapon, two counts of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, two counts of battery and two counts of pointing a loaded firearm.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says the incident happened at Turner's home on Tunnelton Road and involved two male family members. Craig says children were in the home when the incident happened at 9:42 a.m.

The men were fighting because one of them had not gone to work. A fight ensued and Turner allegedly battered the men and put one in a choke hold.

Turner then allegedly grabbed a handgun and began making threats.

None of the men were seriously injured during the fight. Craig says they suffered bruises, red marks and scratches. None sought medical attention.

Craig says when officers arrived the gun was not there so, officers secured a search warrant to look for the weapon.

The Department of Child Services also was called to the scene.

Turner bonded out of jail Saturday around 1:45 p.m. on a $2,005 cash bond.
