(PAYNETOWN) - Terri Bowman of Mooresville, Steve Hockersmith of Shelbyville and Jerry Brewer of Bloomington were winners of the Campsite Decorating Contest this past weekend at Monroe Lake's third annual Ghostly Gathering.
Bowman earned first place for a ghost-themed campsite that included a ghost family toasting marshmallows around a campfire. The campsite was a joint effort with family members on adjacent sites.
Hockersmith's second-place campsite required trick-or-treaters to walk through a graveyard to claim their candy, while various spooks haunted them from the edge of the woods.
The Staff Choice award went to Brewer, whose campsite featured a unique "Busted Knuckle" rat-rod and a tent adorned with a variety of ghoulish props.
Next year's Ghostly Gathering will be at Paynetown State Recreation Area on Oct. 24-25.
