Two Arrested On Meth Charges In Jackson County

Last updated on Friday, November 15, 2013

(JACKSON CO.) - Two people were arrested this week on drug charges in Jackson County.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Carothers says that at 1:30 a.m., Sunday Deputy Mark Holt was on routine patrol in the area of County Road 1300 East and County Road 50 North when he came upon a car stopped on the road.

As the deputy was speaking with the driver, 19-year-old Sara Skaggs, of Freetown, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.

Holt then noticed a person was hiding in the back seat under clothing.

That person was 37-year-old Harold Douglas, of Seymour. Douglas was wanted on warrants out of Jackson County for resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia.

After placing Skaggs and Douglas in handcuffs for safety reasons, the deputy searched the car and found 10 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales and other items commonly used in the dealing of the drug.

Skaggs and Douglas were both arrested and booked in the Jackson County Jail.

They both face preliminary charges of dealing in meth, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Skaggs is also facing a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Douglas is facing an additional charge of false informing.
